One of the important things to consider from the get-go is that a landing page is about more than just keywords. The content itself really does matter. The effectiveness of a landing page is ultimately measured by whether a viewer clicks the desired link—so your job in drafting the landing page is to persuade or compel him or her to do just that. Write the content for your landing page before you get to the design phase, and write naturally—as though you were speaking to a friend and telling him or her about an incredible opportunity.

Another thing to consider is that a good landing page flows well and has some structure to it. Try to create some good, compelling headlines and sub-headings—again, things that people will actually want to click on—and break up your content with some bullet points where appropriate. The bottom line is that you need to create content someone will actually read. Plus, subheadings provide further opportunities for keyword placement!

Drive Traffic to your Page

After you have both written and designed an appealing landing page, take it for a spin. Publish it and drive traffic to it. Monitor how it does. Are people clicking the links you need them to click? Are users spending enough time on the page? This evaluation stage is one of the most important parts of generating leads, because it’s here that you figure out what works and adjust accordingly.
